Feng-Chun Ma Chinese & Japanese Art
Drs. Feng-Chun Ma specializes in Chinese and Japanese ceramics and works of art. She studied Art and Archaeology of East Asia at Amsterdam University, graduating with distinction in 1985. She began her career in 1984 at Christie’s Amsterdam and joined Sotheby’s Amsterdam in 1989 as head of the East Asian department, where she led the department for 14 years. In 2003, she established her own business as a dealer and consultant in Chinese and Japanese ceramics, works of art, and paintings for clients worldwide. She provides advisory services for established and new collectors in buying and selling. Feng-Chun, who speaks five languages including Mandarin, travels extensively. The company also curates private exhibitions and publishes illustrated catalogues.

A Thousand Years of ‘Hundred Boys’ in Chinese Art, 10th-20th Century
千年百子:十至二十世紀中國藝術中的嬰戲圖
The book launch includes a lecture by the author, Drs. Feng-Chun Ma. This richly illustrated bilingual volume (English and Chinese) includes one hundred items of Chinese ceramics, works of art, textiles, and paintings, all featuring boys, which reflect the importance of having male children in traditional China. Each item is extensively researched and described within its historical, cultural, and religious context, with an emphasis on the rich symbolic meanings behind each object. With this publication, Feng-Chun Ma celebrates her fortieth year in the East Asian antiques trade.
A sale exhibition is scheduled for 2025.
