orme cinesi is a furniture collection that features a fusion of Chinese tradition and contemporary Italian design. The project was a collaboration between antique dealers Wai Yin Schoeni and Dave Kwan, Cristina Cappa Legora together with contemporary Italian designer Francesco Meda in 2012. Meda was invited to reinterpret classical Chinese antiques with his own style.
The concept behind orme cinesi is rooted in the challenges of modern living and sustainability, repurposing with style, elegance and functionality. Traditional Chinese furniture, whilst retaining its original wood material, is modified and the design modernised by introducing stainless steel.
