
Jonathan Hope
Jonathan Hope has been collecting and handling textiles and other works of art, specialising in South East Asia, since the 1970s. He has exhibited at several international art events most recently Parcours des Mondes and has participated in non-commercial shows. He is a regular contributor to Hali magazine and lectures on Indonesian textile traditions. This is his second appearance at Asian Art in London.

From India to Indonesia

This exhibition continues with the theme established last year and includes a small group of rare Indonesian masks, a number of Southeast Asian and Indian textiles and an important seated wooden ancestor figure, gundurik, from the Kalasha culture of Pakistan’s Chitral region.
We will also be exhibiting a number of fine Indonesian textiles and an important Indian palempore dating from circa 1730 made on the Coromandel coast for the Dutch market.
