Flora Vesterberg on Japan: Courts and Culture at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace
As Asian Art in London celebrates its milestone 25th anniversary edition, we have commissioned art historian and broadcaster Flora Vesterberg to explore the Asian art being exhibited in London during our anniversary year, in a series of videos. This first episode focuses on Japan: Courts and Culture at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace and includes objects that her thrice great grandmother HM Queen Victoria was given and collected.
Flora Vesterberg is an art historian and broadcaster. As an Ambassador of the V&A museum and co-chair of Art History Link-Up, Flora is committed to education. She has a master’s degree from The Courtauld Institute of Art. Japanese treasures from the Royal Collection are displayed in the first major UK exhibition exploring the relationship between the British and Japanese royal and imperial families, on view until 26 February 2023.
